八大山人是清代著名的书画家。他的简笔写意花鸟画,以独特的面貌,开一代新风。他的书法亦与他的绘画风格相似,极为简练,到晚年喜用秃笔,一变锐利的笔势而变成浑圆朴茂的风格。
近人研究八大书法,追其师承渊源众说纷纭。或曰宗二王、宗董其昌、宗王宠等等,终如寻其书画师承,至今无一定论一样。据王方宇先生考证,最初,八大山人受欧阳询的影响很深,稍后学董其昌的行草,又转入黄庭坚的夸张开阔等,多方探索,再追寻魏晋人书法的气质,终于参用篆书笔法,形成自己独特的风格:中锋圆润,又婉约多姿且厚重浑成,富有晋人气度。
八大山人在许多绘画作品上的款跋,相当精彩奇巧。如在绘画布局上发现有不足之处,有时用款书云补其意。八大山人也能诗,所以他的画即使画得不多,题上自己随兴发挥的诗,意境就充足了。
2015年,美国史密森尼弗利尔美术馆举办了一场名为“解谜:八大山人的艺术(1626-1705)”的展览,展出了其馆藏的八大山人珍贵书画,一起来欣赏他的部分书法作品。
